Best airfried chicken recipe

Fried chicken is a comfort food we all love but isn’t always healthy.

But airfrying the chicken can cut the amount of calories by 70% to 80%.  This cooking method might also cut down on some of the other harmful effects of oil frying.  A 140-gram chicken breast has 231 calories. A 33-gram drumstick has 211 calories. That means a drumstick may be more flavorful than chicken breast but has .06 per gram more calories.

If you want a crispy delicious chicken drumstick recipe with less oil, use an air fryer.

Ingredients:

• 8 chicken drumsticks

• 2 teaspoons rock salt

• 5 cloves chopped garlic

• 1 medium sized minced onion

• 2 cups plain yoghurt

• 2 tablespoons hot sauce

• 2 cups all-purpose flour

• 1 cup cornstarch

• 2 teaspoons rock salt

• 2 teaspoons paprika

• 2 teaspoons black Pepper

• Peanut oil (for frying)

• salt

Preparation:

1. Place 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces, in a large bowl.  Sprinkle the chicken with 2 teaspoons rock salt, chopped garlic, and minced onion. Mix well to coat the chicken in spices.

2. Add 2 cups yoghurt and 2 tablespoons hot sauce. Mix well.

3. Cover with plastic wrap and marinate in the fridge for at least 2 hours, but ideally leave it overnight.

4.In a medium bowl, combine 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 cup cornstarch, 2 teaspoons rock salt, 2 teaspoons paprika, and 2 teaspoons black pepper. Set aside.

5. Spray or put very little peanut oil on air fryer.

6.Remove the chicken pieces from the marinade one at a time and allow the excess sauce to drip off.

7. Stir in the flour mixture, making sure the chicken is well coated. Be careful to distribute the flour well or you could end up with soggy chicken Pat the chicken pieces completely dry with a paper towel.

8.Set the chicken aside and let it rest for a few minutes until the coating feels mushy.

9. An ideal temperature for air fried chicken is 190C.  Carefully place a piece of chicken in the fryer and move on to the next piece. Don’t add more than three or four pieces at a time if you have a medium capacity air fryer to allow air to circulate.

10. You need to fry in batches so as not to overfill the air fryer. Fry until golden brown, flipping the chicken pieces with kitchen tongs every few minutes. Use a timer to remind you to flip them over to the other side.

11. The chicken is ready when it is golden brown.

12. Depending on the size of the chicken, it may take around 12-14 minutes to cook.

13. Once the chicken is air fried , place it on a baking tray lined with absorbent paper and immediately sprinkle the surface with some salt.

14. Serve with lemon wedges and enjoy!
