Registration for entrance examinations to national and public universities nationwide begins today.

By on January 25, 2021

A total of 98,896 students aiming to be admitted to 392 faculties at 82 national universities and 202 departments of 90 public universities have started registering for a university-specific secondary exam.

Registration for the second-stage exams has officially started today following the first stage held earlier this month.

Due to coronavirus safety protocols, the registration has been extended by two days until February 5.

In addition, applicants who will take the special supplementary exams can apply from February 15th to 18th. The first half of the second exams will start on February 25 followed by the middle-term schedule (for public universities only) on March 8, and the second half on March 12.

Since some universities have changed the selection method, such as cancelation of individual exams, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology is calling for the latest information.

On Friday, Japan’s education ministry told universities to conduct entrance exams in ways that would not put any applicant at a disadvantage.
