The most expensive steak sandwich in Japan

By on January 6, 2021

Are you ready to spend money on the most expensive sandwich available in Japan?  The “Special charcoal-grilled steak & home-grown smoked salmon” sandwich which sells for ¥10,000 (¥11,000 with tax) at Gorio luxury steak restaurant in Tsukiji, is now on the menu.

The gourmet sandwich is thoughtfully packed in a souvenir light box with neatly arranged pieces of white bread. Half of it is filled with char-grilled Tajima wagyu known for its superior texture, fine marbling and buttery flavor. The other half has salmon fillings. (What is Tajima wagyu?)

The COVID-19 pandemic spreading throughout Japan has a significant impact on the future of the country’s restaurant industry, from small diners to specialty restaurants. Just because you can’t eat at Gorio doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy that restaurant’s food. The sandwich can now be ordered on the phone starting from noontime to 11 pm everyday.
