With many restaurants closed during the pandemic, many people are finding that ready-to-eat food packs at convenience stores are enough to keep them afloat – hardcore vegans included.

I’m a hardcore vegan and the very limited food options in Japan makes veganism more difficult. But thanks to the vegan friendly Tofu bars (128 yen) that have recently become a hit food item at 7 Eleven stores. Grabbing a soy bar that contains roughly 2.7 times more protein than silk tofu, is a great way to curb appetite, fuel a workout, and help support muscle repair after exercise.

In addition, vegetable protein has less saturated fatty acids than animal protein, making this a healthy quick bite.

Since its launch in November 2020, sales of the power tofu have surged among young people moving away from a meat diet.

Unlike tofu blocks that need to be dipped in soy sauce for flavor and can be a bit messy to eat, these ready-to-go tofu sticks are pre-seasoned with dashi and yuzu-pepper (Japanese citrus). Grab one today and let us know!
