Bape Kids Spring/Summer collection 2020

It isn’t hard to see why Athleisure has become the fashion staple for years. It’s comfortable and although sportswear materials are generally light, they work for every weather. In summer, sportswear fabric absorbs sweat and keeps the body dry and cool. In winter, overcoats and hoodies keep the body warm and look very trendy.

Athletic clothing designers have also been adding a lot of creative elements in their products. If Athleisure has become popular in Japan, it’s because of Tamoaki Nagao, known to many as ‘Nigo‘, who founded the BAPE (A Bathing Ape), a street wear brand for men, women and children. It now has over 19 stores in the country.

The brand has become the hype among kids eager to own a piece of BAPE como hoodie. Bape is also synonymous to the hip-hop generation. In an interview by MTV, Virgil Abloh, American fashion designer and Louis Vuitton’s artistic director for men’s wear, described the brand as one that “represents youth culture, Japanese street wear aesthetic, and American hip-hop.”
