Talented Rachel Weisz

Hi everyone, it’s Lisle reporting to you from my new home in the entertainment capital of the world, Los Angeles. This is the perfect place to be giving you a “celebrity family report” on the lovely British actress Rachel Weisz.

The Academy Awards, held at the Kodak Theater, once again captured world attention. Actress Rachel Weisz was one of the lucky stars who walked away with an Oscar two years ago for her performance in The Constant Gardener. At the time when Rachel went up to receive the award for Best Supporting Actress, she was seven-months pregnant. Since then she has given birth to a beautiful baby boy, Henry Chance Aronofsky. That “small package” that she delivered in 2006 has led to some very big changes for the British thespian.

Weisz started off on the small screen in her native England before taking to the stage opposite Clive Owen in the 1994 play Design For Living. Then she landed some movie roles in such films as The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. It was during a press junket for The Mummy Returns that she met her future husband, native New Yorker and movie director Darren Aronofsky.

After the birth of her son in 2006, Weisz says it made her want to “lighten up.” According to the actress, “I was offered all of these dramas, and I was like, ‘No, no, no. I want to do COMEDY!’ I wanted to ease back into work. I wanted to try something different.”

This brings us to her latest role in the film Fred Claus in which the lovely actress plays the girlfriend of Santa’s reprobate brother, a role played by funnyman Vince Vaughn. And then theater-goers will find her in another comedy called Definitely, Maybe.

Motherhood has also led Weisz to become more active in giving back to the community. After filming The Constant Gardener in a Kenyan shanty town, the film’s production crew built bridges, fresh water tanks, and restroom facilities. After the filming, the producer decided to continue helping the town by forming The Constant Gardener Trust. The crew (including Weisz and costar Ralph Fiennes) were more than happy to get involved. So far the trust has been instrumental in building high school-level educational facilities.

Since then the actress has helped produce fundraising events for the trust, including recently working with Cartier on a huge fundraiser in New York. And according to this beautiful actress, she is just getting started, not only with her charity work, but also in her career and her latest role, as mommy to 17-month-old Henry.
