See the real Tyrannosaurus Rex “Tyson” fossils at a rare exhibit in Tokyo

It’s not enough that you buy your kids dinosaur picture books,  T-Rex and Triceratops toys.  Let them see real dinosaur fossils.

An upcoming exhibition offers such rare opportunity. For the first time in Japan, “Dinosaur Expo 2023” featuring the real fossils of Armor Dragon Zulu Kurlivastatl, will be on exhibit at the National Museum of Nature and Science from March 14 until June 19, 2023.

These giant pre-historic reptiles that have lived and roamed the Earth in all seven continents for around 245 million years, can spark your children’s curiosity and facilitate learning. Through this exhibition, they can learn the evolution of dragon artillery from swords and armors to thorns and plates used in attack and defense.

Explore and appreciate up close the dynamic real fossils of Zulu Kurrivastatl, raved by experts as perfect.

It will be the first time in the world for well-preserved Tyrannosaurus Rex “Tyson” fossils,  discovered by paleontologists in the Hell Creek Formation in Montana, U.S.A., to be on public display. T Rex lived about 66 million years ago.

Opening hours: 9:00 to 17:00 (admission until 16:30)

Every Saturday, from April 30 (Sunday) to May 7 (Sunday), open hours will be extended until 19:00 (if you come in by 18:30)
※The permanent exhibition is closed at 17:00 (admission until 16:30)
Closed: Mondays
※However, it will be open on March 27, April 3, May 1, and June 12
Fees: General admission and university students 2,200 yen, elementary, junior high and high school students 600 yen; Preschool children get in free. (A reservation is required for a specified date and time.)
※Disability certificate holders and one caregiver are free. (Reservations required)
※Visitors need to make a reservation from the exhibition official website. On-the-day admissions are limited.
