By on December 7, 2022

If you gave birth at the start of Japan’s fiscal year in April 2022 and after, you can apply for Pregnancy and childbirth benefits worth 100,000 yen.

The aid will be funded by the Japanese government’s recently-enacted second supplementary budget for fiscal year 2022.

Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said Tuesday at a meeting on Comprehensive Measures on Prices, Wages and Livelihoods, that the start date by which families can apply for said benefit is set for early next year depending on how prepared municipalities are to implement it.

Benefits worth 50,000 yen will be released when pregnancy reports are submitted. Another 50,000 yen to follow when childbirth reports are filed.

Families who would like to apply for the aid can ask their ward office for advice.
