By on October 27, 2022

Japan experts estimate a speedy rollout of COVID-19 vaccines could prevent as many as 3 million infection cases even if Japan experiences an eighth wave this winter.

The study was presented at the health ministry’s COVID-19 advisory board meeting on Wednesday. A total of 8.44 million people in Japan was estimated to be newly infected with the coronavirus by February 2023.
The total could however drop to 5.5 million if 1 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered daily in December, the experts said.
