Brace yourselves for even more expensive iPhones

By on July 13, 2022

Compared to the United States’ 8.6% inflation rate in May, Japan’s core inflation rate remained relatively stable at 2.1 percent in June. This shows it has weathered the economic storm well despite Covid and the Ukraine war.

But why is Apple raising its prices? The price adjustment in Apple products is believed to be a direct result of a weakening Japanese currency.

The price of Mac computers went up in June and as well as its other products. The iPad Pro series went up from 94,800 yen to 117,800 yen for the 11-inch 128GB model and the 12.9-inch 128GB model went from 129,800 yen to 159,800 yen. The price of the 2TB model increased by 63,000 yen from 261,800 yen to 324,800 yen.

Apple, Rakuten Mobile, NTT DoCoMo, and Softbank have already revised the price of Apple products, and KDDI has recently followed suit.

Only iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, and iPhone SE (3rd generation) are handled by UQ Mobile.

Below is a list of the old price and adjusted price at online shops in Japan before discounts are applied.
