By on November 8, 2021

In just 7 days since the Tokyo Vaction app was released by the Tokyo Metropolitan government, more than 100,000 people in Japan have already registered. The app was initially intended as an incentive for young people to receive vaccinations against coronavirus.

The Tokyo Vaction app (a portmanteau of  ‘vaccine’ and ‘action’) is essentially a digital proof that registered user has been fully inoculated thus, making dining out for example at establishments that admit only fully vaccinated people, safe and fuss-free.

Restaurants and retail shops helping to promote the Tokyo Vaction inoculation campaign may also offer app users discounts and other add-on services.

As Japan resumes economic activities, the metropolitan government  recommends the use of the app at various establishments.

For fully vaccinated people to use the Tokyo Vaction app, they need to register as friends of Tokyo Vaction App’s official account on the free messaging LINE app. To get verified as authentic user, the applicant needs to upload vaccination verification documents and proof of inoculation issued by municipal governments to which applicant belongs.
