Covid cases declining

The World Health Organization said in its recent update that the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths has continued to decline globally with  3.1 million new cases and just over 54,000 new deaths, reported over the last week.

The Tokyo Metropolitan government too has reported on Sunday that the daily number of new coronavirus caseloads is down to 60, hitting the lowest figure reported for the second consecutive day.

Overall, Tokyo’s daily infection fell by 101 from a week earlier.

The number of COVID-19 patients with severe symptoms under the metropolitan government’s criteria stands at 67 with seven new deaths among infected people reported on the day.

Across Japan, 553 new infection cases were confirmed on Sunday. The nationwide number of severely ill COVID-19 patients fell by 18 from the previous day to 483, slipping below 500 for the first time since July 26.
Among infected people across the country, 10 new deaths were reported.
