Despite Japan having started vaccinating medical workers on Wednesday last week, the uncertainty of succeeding schedule, leaves municipal officials concerned due to preparation involved, said Taro Kono, minister in charge of the inoculation campaign, on Sunday.

Presently, there is no clear-cut schedule for when other people can get vaccinated and there are worries about vaccine supply.

“A certain decision needs to be made this week,” Kono said on television. He also said the government will expand inoculations to elderly people in stages because of limited vaccine supply.

The country’s inoculation campaign uses Pfizer Inc.’s vaccine. The second shipment of around 450,000 doses of the said vaccine arrived at Narita International Airport near Tokyo Sunday morning.
