First roller skating lessons offered to Tokyo kids

Outdoor or indoor roller skating can be a fun activity for the whole family. But if you need to bring a newbie in the family up to speed, get help from the pros.

Pro skaters at the Tokyo Dome Roller Skating Arena are giving roller skate beginners lessons on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

The lesson is for kids who want to learn the basics of roller skating and inline skating correctly and safely to truly enjoy the sport. Standing and moving on a pair of roller skates requires knee strength and balance different from what it takes for kids to simply stand up.

This is why lessons are tailored to a child’s ability and speed to get his/her sense of balance to a level where standing on skates is doable. Parents can also take the course together (for a fee).

When:                         Saturday class / 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th Saturday of the month
                                       Sunday class / 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th Sunday of the month
10:00 am – 10:50 am (50-minute lesson)
Who can sign up:  Children up to elementary school age and their guardians
Lesson fee:                   3,500 yen per lesson (includes entrance, rental shoes, and tax)
