The world’s first goggle-type mixed reality headset “Apple Vision Pro” will be released in Japan, months after its US’ early 2024 release.

The price tag? It’ll cost from $3,499 when it goes on sale in the United States.  Given the continuous weakening of the Japanese yen, expect the price in Japan to be more expensive.

WHAT IT DOES

Billed as “the most advanced personal electronics device ever”, Apple Vision Pro is possibly the closes

packed with cool tech features way different from the wacky VR headsets in the 80s and 90s. “You navigate simply by using your hands, eyes and voice,” says Apple.

It is equipped with the world’s first spatial operating system, visionOS, which means you can enjoy 4K resolution digital content and the most advanced spatial audio system. It has 23 million pixels spread across two panels allowing you to experience any space as wide as 30 meters including three-element lenses and 12 cameras around the edge of the headset enabling it to track your hand and eye movements for controller-free operation.

The visionOS equipped with “Apple Vision Pro” is a 3D interface that unlocks apps from the display frame so you can project it in any size. In expanding the screen size in 3D space, it will work with Apple Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad.

According to Apple, you can wirelessly bring your MacBook into the headset by looking at your laptop for a 4K display to hover above it.

Through Apple Immersive Videos, 180-degree high-resolution recording compatible with spatial audio, you can enjoy movies, TV shows, 3D videos with realistic and dynamic images and sounds including popular games. With all these features, who needs a TV?

“Apple Vision Pro” is also equipped with Apple’s first camera to support 3D photos and videos. This means that videos recorded with spatial audio and panoramic images taken with your iPhone can be reproduced in life-size scale with vivid colors and overwhelming details.

Face-timing with friends and family

The Apple Vision Pro has familiar apps for a ton of possible uses – for work or fun.

It has AR versions of Safari, Notes, Messages, Keynote, and other family favorite such as FaceTime.

Using the FaceTime app in “Apple Vision Pro” allows you to see friends or family participating in the call and objects around it in life-size fashion. It delivers a crisp sound through spatial audio, making you feel like you are chatting in-person.

“Apple Vision Pro” users will be projected as “Persona”. “Persona” is Apple’s machine-learning technology that reproduces the user’s face and hand movements in real time. Users can share and enjoy various spaces together, including watching movies and looking at photos together.
