A Man Called Otto is a great family film!

A Man Called Otto, a dramedy adapted from a best-selling Swedish novel and Academy Award-nominated 2015 film « A man called Ove », is coming to Tokyo theaters on March 10, 2023.

The story revolves around a cranky man named Otto (Tom Hanks) who, after his wife’s death, attempts to end his life as a matter of efficiency. The movie presents a series of humorously interrupted attempts at suicide all of which lead to the point at which Otto realizes that, despite all the odds, life can still be fulfilling.

Hanks and director Mark Foster pulled off the impossible in injecting humor in the right spots to a serious suicide topic in this remake version produced by Tom and wife, Rita.

The movie was rated PG-13 scale for some profanities, suicide, etc. but definitely safe for teen viewers.

A Man Called Otto is definitely worth a watch. It will entertain you, energize you with hope and perhaps make you reach out to people going through a difficult time in their lives.
