“Louvre Museum exhibition: Love Drawings” in Tokyo

By on December 14, 2022

‘Love’ became one of the fundamental themes of Western art from the 16th to the 19th century. Paintings based on Greek and Roman mythology, centered on the daily lives of people, their passion, desire, sensual pleasure, anguish, sorrow and a desire to love, dominated the art scene during the period. Religious artists focused on the “godly” kind of unconditional love through the Holy Family, the crucifixion of Christ, and the martyrdom of saints.

Seventy four carefully curated artworks from those periods, of which some will be in Japan for the first time, will be exhibited from March 1 through to June 12, 2023 at the National Arts Center of Tokyo courtesy of France’s Louvre Museum.

This is a not-to-be-missed exhibition of discovery and encounter for art aficionados!
