This new café inside a park serves fantastic snacks anytime of day.

Café 33, a charming casual café opened this month right near the Imperial Palace’s Kokyo Gaien National Garden.

Tucked away in the serene, lush greenery of Kitanomaru Koen (Kitanomaru Park), this low-key cafe’s green and white minimalist interior and floor-to-ceiling glass windows give you the feeling of having meals in the woods.
Given that Tokyo isn’t one of those Asian cities where people eat by the side of the road or while walking, having a spot like this inside a park makes sense. This makes it the perfect early morning place for sleep-deprived moms to kickstart the day with caffeine or get a bite to eat.
We went there recently with a group of moms and antsy toddlers in tow.
We had popped in for coffee and to get a bite of something before heading to the park.

This minimalist café is open seven days a week with a menu that offers focaccia, panini, hamburger bowl, gourmet pizzas, fruit tarts, cakes, soft serve ice cream and nice coffee – at reasonable prices. No artificial ingredients are added to the food.

We had these little rectangular pizzas called ‘Pizza Altario’ made from scratch every day and they were very delicious.

There’s a selection of tempting desserts that kids like to eat – fresh fruit tarts (650 yen),  capri-style chocolate cake, and “soft serve” ice cream to name a few.

We also had the focaccia and paninis with delicious greens, ham and cheese filling. If you’re going to walk in the park for hours, focaccia promises to keep you fuller longer!

It’s a great place to plop yourself down after a stroll in the park.
