A summer must-do at Yomiuriland.

By on July 21, 2022

No matter what kind of fun rides you are prepared to take – from the laid back to thrilling, Yomiuriland,  Tokyo’s oldest amusement park for families, has you covered.

In addition to the huge 4-man tube canyon ride, long chutes and ropeways, it has surprise rides every summer and –  this year is no different.

Tokyo summer can feel like one long heat wave. Many people wish adding a nice big splash to the ride would make things better for park visitors.

And that’s exactly what the amusement park did. It added six exhilirating new splash points to Bandit, its most popular coaster ride, to activate large water cannons and mist while maintaining its maximum speed of 110km / hr.

Picture this. The coaster climbs steeply up the ramp, followed by a moment of heart-stopping hesitation. As the roller coaster makes a sudden drop, you experience blasts of water pressure and mists at splash points  – and everyone gets sopping wet.

A lot of people I know can spend a whole day at a water park and not once get wet.  This isn’t one of those places.

So take my advice if you plan to take this ride – staying dry is not guaranteed.  Bring some extra clothes. Seal up all your electronic devices in one waterproof bag together, to prevent damage.
