Paw Patrol, a Canadian animated TV series for children aired in Japan every Friday on TV Tokyo and currently popular in 160 countries and 350 million households, is now a movie.

Paw Patrol: the Movie will be released in Japan on August 20.

The computer-animated film stars a 10-year old boy named Ryder along with an adorable crew of search and rescue pups with missions to solve in their community. Preschoolers will have immediate connection to these lovable talking pups and will be delighted by their roles and skills.

Chase is a 7-year-old German Shepherd who serves as a police and spy dog. The paramedic and firefighter in the team is Marshall, a clumsy but competent 6-year-old Dalmatian. Skype, a 7-year-old cockapoo, is an air pup and Chase’s love interest. Rocky, the schnauzer/scottish terrier is the handyman pup while Rubble is the 5-year-old bulldog who goes out and about in a yellow bulldozer. The team is not complete without the quintessential working breed, the 5-year old labrador retriever named Zuma who is the team’s aquatic rescue pup.

Parents who don’t know Paw Patrol will be pleasantly surprised at the movie and its themes of teamwork, trust-building, and courage while the funny adventures, dialogs and and story will make you laugh.

The pups’ new recruit Liberty, is a new character to watch. Brave and outspoken, the Dachshund makes a good addition to the male-dominated team as the second female member.

Families with young kids will enjoy all the ways the pups act as community helpers and, in the process, encourage and support one another, too.   In theatres Aug 20, Age 4+
