“Ochaba” opens a Japanese style crepe store in Asakusa

By on February 21, 2020

Ochaba, opens a ‘take-out only’ store specializing in milk tea-flavored crepes along  the busy orange street in Asakusa on Feb 22.

Ochaba, which means ‘a place for tea’ is the second store to open after its first in Shinjuku Lumine Est.

Ochaba offers artisanal crepes in a variety of unique Japanese flavors. The store’s specialty is “Kokusu Kinako Warabi Mochi“, a matcha tea-based crepe cone (680 yen) made from green tea grown in Shizuoka. Warabimochi is a jelly-like confection made from Bracken starch and covered or dipped in kinako ( toasted sweet soybean flour). There are many different flavors and aromas of tea in Japan depending on the region. Shizuoka produces one of the highest quality tea leaves.

Other crepe cone flavors include Hojicha Brulee made from another grade of green tea with a signature smokey, earthy flavor and “Mitarashi Dango“, which is a mix of black honey and mochi (sticky rice).
