Activating 21st Century Skills in After-School Programs, Day Camps and Seasonal Camps

BSD Education – Build Something Different – offers real-world project-based technology education to 8-18-year olds to prepare them for a fast-changing technology-dominated world using the 21st Century Skills approach.

BSD’s curriculum is mapped to US, IB and British academic standards and can be implemented immediately with no prior experience – 76% of teachers using BSD online and BSD programs have no technology experience. Why? BSD’s training programs give instructors all the skills, knowledge and confidence they need.

With curriculum for technology courses, all core subjects, and after-school and technology camps, BSD can be used by all teachers to give their students the essential technology skills and mindsets to succeed in the future.

Specially designed for shorter courses of 5-10 hours, BSD CodePacks give students their first experience building real websites, apps and games with real code. Projects created by students automatically go into their online portfolio that they can keep and share.

EIE – Engineering is Elementary – is a program covering pre-kindergarten to Grade 12 students. With 48 projects to choose from, EIE was created by the Museum of Science in Boston to support educators and children with curricula and professional development that develop engineering literacy to make engineering and science education relevant, accessible, and inclusive.

The museum designed the engineering curricula, resources and teacher professional development to best innovate for the reality of today’s educational landscape, combining the best in theory, research, teaching practice, and thought leadership. EIE has already been used by more than 10 million students.

Research shows that when engineering is part of elementary instruction, students become more aware of the diverse opportunities for engineering, science, and technical careers – and they are more likely to see these careers as options they could choose.

Using the Engineering Design Process helps students activate 21st Century skills to make problem-solving positive habits of mind, which they can transfer to multiple situations.

We are looking forward to working with you to building your after-school programs and tech camp programs.
