Treasures from Budapest

By on January 21, 2020

A rare exhibition of 130 European and Hungarian master art pieces, spanning four hundred years from the Renaissance to the early twentieth century, happens for the first time at the National Art Center in Tokyo. The exhibition coincides with Japan and Hungary’s 150th year of diplomatic relations.

“Treasures from Budapest” includes a large collection of master pieces from the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest and the Hungarian National Gallery.

See to appreciate a fantastic line-up of art pieces ranging from European and Hungarian paintings to drawings and sculptures, produced during the Renaissance to the early twentieth century. The Renaissance era marked by an interest in nature, humanistic learning, individualism, and modernism, produced master artists like  Cranach, Titian, El Greco, Renoir, and Monet. But there are also other pieces rarely seen in Japan from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries by Hungarian artists, that will make your visit worthwhile.

If you have older kids, take them along and introduce them to the many differences and similarities between cultures through art.
