Kuishinbo Butter Festival

By on September 19, 2019

Japan consumes nearly 90 million tons of butter each year. That’s about 0.8 kg per person.

When Japan experienced occasional butter shortages a few years back because of decreased milk production in dairy farms, many housewives panicked.

So for those of you who can’t get enough of butter, here’s an event you will not want to miss.

Over 100 types of fresh butter made all over Japan will be featured at the Kuishinbo Butter Festival from Sept 21 (Fri) until Sept 23 (Mon).  The festival draws all types of artisans, crafters and vendors. Visitors and onlookers will have the chance to sample butter from different regions by buying 3 spoons at ¥100 each.

Apart from taste test booths, 29 types of artisanal butter you don’t find at a nearby store including French galettes and pastries made from high grade Japanese butter will also be sold to the public.
