¥500-a-slice NY style pizza

By on August 19, 2018

When my fast growing teen boys are hungry, they always crave for pizza.  If left to their own devices, they will live off pizza, pizza and more pizza.

Pizza gets a bad reputation as junk food but here in Japan, there is a big difference in the basic ingredients used that make it a healthy food choice.
To enjoy pizza and still maintain a healthy eating attitude, I have been limiting my boys to no more than a slice or two since they were young and not have them go overboard with extra toppings. As a family rule, it has always been a slice for us.

Since day 1 of our arrival, Tokyo has impressed us with a wide choice of pizzerias to try.  But the closest to the quick-serve, casual style the boys desperately miss back home we could ever find is PIZZA SLICE.

Fortunately for us, Pizza Slice’s Omotesando shop is just a stone’s throw away from our Tokyo apartment.   A slice of a New York size pizza here costs ¥500 which is in fact reasonable by Tokyo standards.

On regular days, they only have about 6-7 kinds of pizza at best.  The 20-inch pizza is cut into eight slices just like New York style portions.

Pepperoni with jalapenos was truly filling and delicious.
