Solamachi summer matsuri returns after a pandemic hiatus.

Dust off your yukatas and getas because matsuris are back.

After a 2-year pandemic break, communities in Japan welcome back summer festivals that people turn to for entertainment and stress relief.

The Tokyo Solamachi Summer Festival in Sumida ward returns for three days from August 1st (Monday) until August 3rd (Wednesday), 2022 offering a range of entertaining cultural experiences for everyone.

Expect to see a number of yatais (food stalls) , Kingyou-sukui (goldfish scooping) for kids,  bon odori (bon dance), fireworks and many more. The  shopping streets of Solamachi will be packed with every conceivable food and drink stall you can imagine so join in the fun.

The highlight of the matsuri here is of course the firework display that starts at night. Get there early to secure a spot with a good view!
