Tokyo’s new coronavirus caseloads hit all-time high level

The number of new coronavirus cases reported in Tokyo on Thursday came to 16,538, hitting a record daily high for the third consecutive day, the metropolitan government said.

It has surpassed the previous day’s record  of 14,086 cases jumping 1.9 times compared to the week before.

The occupancy rate for hospital beds in Tokyo shot up at 44.4%,  1.6 % more than on Wednesday.  The number of seriously ill COVID-19 patients in Tokyo remains unchanged at 18.  On Thursday, 3 new fatalities have been reported.
