Japan’s giant mobile phone operator NTT DoCoMo announced that it will re-extend its support to its users under 25 years old, for free data usage up to 50GB, until the end of July.

Given the summer holidays at universities and required online learning due to social distancing measures, the complimentary offer to users from April 1 to 30, was first extended until the end of June.

The deadline for users of other telecom carriers SoftBank, Y!mobile, and KDDI (au) that have also waived tethering charges and data usage ends on June 30.

The data usage equivalent up to 50 GB is free to those with a plan with NTT DoCoMo and are under the age of 25 as of April 1, 2020. The offer automatically applies to users who meet the conditions and do not need to apply to enjoy the offer.

Since NTT Docomo does not require an additional fee for tethering, it can be used for online learning using a computer. Data can be added in two ways: Adding 1GB each time or  choosing 10 GB or unlimited. The normal ¥1,000-per-1GB use applies to usage above 50 GB.
