UNIQLO to donate breathable summer masks to medical institutions.

By on May 26, 2020

Japanese clothing company UNIQLO has announced that it will provide 4 million masks free of charge to facilities who need it. Starting on May 25,  support desks will run for a week to  accept application from medical institutions and nursing homes experiencing serious mask shortage.

Uniqlo will also produce masks to sell to the public for summer use. It will be using the same breathable fabric used in its “Airism” undergarments line. The lightweight, soft to the touch fabric is specially developed by Uniqlo to allow airflow during the hot season and release heat and moisture. It will be sold in stores and online stores from around summer.

Initially, we were reluctant to sell masks, but we changed the policy due to many requests from customers,” says Uniqlo spokesman.

Details on pricing and launch dates would be announced at a later date.
