Family breathes sigh of relief as 2-week old baby girl recovers from COV-19 without medication.

On February 2, a coronavirus patient in Wuhan, China, gave birth to a baby girl named Xiao Xiao at the Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University. The mother had been confirmed to have the COV-19 disease before going into labor. Scientists feared the disease can be passed on to the baby and can potentially kill her 30 hours after birth. So the child was admitted to Wuhan hospital on the same day she was born.

Luckily for the mom and baby, those fears proved false.

The baby’s condition eventually stabilized after being closely monitored at the hospital and was posted on China’s Weibo account.

Today, Xiao Xiao tested negative for the dreadful disease. Despite the baby’s respiratory symptoms (without breathing difficulties) and minor myocardial damage, the doctors thought it best not to give her antibiotics.

After fully recovering from the virus, baby Xiao Xiao snugly wrapped in protective covering from head to toe, was finally discharged from the hospital.

The Coronavirus incubation period has been reported to be anywhere between 2-14 days with possible outliers lasting up to 27 days.
