Kindle for Kids

By on November 15, 2019

Amazon recently announced the tenth generation Kindle Kids Model designed to boost literacy of children ages 6 and up. For parents who want to see their kids devouring books instead of video games, this sounds quite appealing. The Kindle unit comes with a 12-month free unlimited access to over 1,000 child-appropriate e-books which makes the offer even more appealing .

After 12 months, a fixed monthly subscription fee of 480 yen applies – if you are an Amazon Prime member and 980 yen,  if you are not.

Overall, the Kindle unit is light and comes with a sturdy casing, a 10- inch HD display, a 167 ppi resolution and a built-in light for night reading.

Charging takes roughly 4 hours via the microUSB port on the bottom. There’s no plug supplied with the unit, but you do get a USB cable. A full charge will last four weeks based on 30-minutes-a-day reading with wireless off.

Like the regular Kindle, it is equipped with a dictionary and word book. Kids who read a lot earn “Bookworm” and “Superstar” badges designed to make reading  an everyday habit.
