A cool science experiment even a busy mom could do with kids in 90 seconds.

Playing with my three and four-year old boys is an endless task. Every single idea has to be exciting.

Thanks to YouTube, I found something that worked for my kids so I want to share them with you. This fun kitchen craft only requires a microwave oven and an ivory soap.  It won’t make a mess, I promise so here goes.

Place a piece of waxed or paper towel on your microwave plate and put a bar of Ivory soap on the center. Don’t use foil.

Heat the soap bar on high power for around 90 seconds or as necessary. Microwave ovens heat at different speeds so you can just stop it whenever you need to. My boys screamed in excitement as they saw the soap bar turned into something else.  My youngest says, “Mom, that looks like clouds!”

For those of you who don’t know, Ivory brand soap, unlike any other soap, floats in water because it was made with tiny packets of air that expands when heated.  When you take the stuff out of the oven, the texture is pliable and blends well with artificial food coloring to make your kitchen craft more exciting.  Try it!
