Japanese Skin Products That Work

By on April 16, 2019

Stress that comes with motherhood is the number one trigger for oily skin, acne, breakouts and other skin problems. As we age, our skin becomes fragile and our body’s ability to produce collagen begins to slow down. Thus, the skin becomes less elastic causing wrinkles to appear.

The good news is – living in Japan gives us access to Japanese products that can help solve most of our skin woes. We tried and tested a few that we think offers good value for money. Moms – spring is pampering time so don’t neglect your skin!

ROSETTE GOMMAGE PEELING GEL

Brighten up the skin and get rid of dead skin cells with help from ROSSETTE GOMAGE PEELING GEL. It is a glycolic peel also called ‘Alpha Hydroxy Acid’ (AHA) and one of the most gentle formulas you can find at selected drugstores in Japan. Not only does it do a good job of penetrating the top layer of your skin and slough off the dead skin cells, this product also tightens your skin pores. Unlike Western glycolic acid peels, Rosette Gommage is a non-abrasive formula that can be applied to the face (except the eye area) for as often as two to three times a week. It is left to dry for a minute followed by a gentle massage in circular motion until eraser-shaving-like rubber bits appear.. After washing the face, you will notice immediate improvement. For optimum results, you’ll need to use it 2-3 times a week. Don’t forget to apply a sunscreen in the daytime.

DR. Ci Labo AQUA COLLAGEN GEL ENRICH LIFT-EX

Collagen is the main component of the dermis. Breakdown of collagen or not having enough of it in your body is what leads to wrinkle formation and other skin problems. Dr. Ci:Labo brand, one of the most respected drugstore brands in Japan, has a range of all-in-one skin moisturising gels to solve different skin problems. The Keana line is a four-step treatment for pores reduction (oil, face wash, toner and gel). Applied nightly for at least a couple months, the pore size will visibly be reduced or less noticeable. Another Dr. Ci:Labo all-in-one gel, the Enrich Lift Ex, is a premium all-in-one moisturizer for people with dry skin. Application is easy. Just wash your face and pat dry. Using a tiny spatula that comes with the product, take about two pearl-sized beads in the morning, and a cherry-sized ball in the evening. Massage the product gently in an outward spiral pattern. Use your palm to cover your face, and press gently for the gel to penetrate the skin. You don’t need a toner, emulsion and serum because everything your skin needs to stay moisturized and glowing all day is in this jar. Two weeks of twice-a-day use will give your skin a fresh, moisturized look without the heavy feel of a night cream..
