Chicago’s swanky restaurant Morton’s the Steakhouse opens in Marunouchi

High-rise buildings continue to dominate the urban landscape of Tokyo and much of it is happening in the city’s  business district of Marunouchi.

In 2016, shopping complex Tokyu Plaza was built followed by Ginza Five the year after.
If you stroll around the Marunouchi area,  there’s a new imposing building facing the Hibiya Park you can’t possibly miss.  That’s the Marunouchi Nijubashi Building, a mixed complex which opens on November 8.
Seventeen high-end restaurants  including 8 stores will occupy the 2,700-sqm NIJUBASHI SQUARE, a luxurious space on the first two levels of the building. This includes one of the swankiest restaurants in Chicago called Morton’s The Steakhouse founded in 1978.

The secret behind Morton’s The Steakhouse’s success  is its premium quality slowly aged “Prime” grade beef sourced from less than 2 to 3% of  the whole U.S. domestic meat. The steak is baked at 500 ℃ or higher using only a custom broiler-oven which makes for a crisp surface and a very juicy, smooth texture. House specialties range from porter house steaks to NY strip and fillets.

In addition to steaks, the restaurant also offers 200 kinds of sommelier-curated wines and regularly keeps a stock of 700 bottles in its wine cellar.  VIPs also get to enjoy its iconic wine locker service where they can have their favorite unfinished bottles kept until their next visit.
