Kids & Us school starts offering summer programs in English

By on July 18, 2018

With English becoming a mandatory subject in Japan from 2020, most Japanese parents are seizing every opportunity to give their children an early head start.

Compared to the Japanese, Europeans are better at acquiring foreign languages and for obvious reasons. In most counties in Europe,  children from age 8 are learning at least two foreign languages. According to the  2012 report from Eurostat,  children  in more than 20 European countries start learning their first foreign language as a compulsory subject between ages 6 and 9.
Kids & Us, a supplemental education franchise that promotes learning languages from a young age,  has a growing global presence since 2008. The Kids & Us method is used in different countries across Europe,  Mexico and Morocco with 376 schools and over 115,000 students enrolled.  Teachers of Kids & Us method are required to possess English skills equivalent to  C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference and have to undergo a training program and take professional development courses. Each class is recorded and evaluated by an Auditing Team to ensure that teaching quality  is aligned to the purpose and expected outcome for each level.
Inspired by the European model of language acquisition, Kids & Us  school in Chofu is offering for the first time,  a summer program for kids ages 3-10  in  a completely English-speaking environment.
