Italy brings BIRO, the smallest electric car, to Tokyo

By on June 18, 2018

The changing needs and tastes of consumers are driving the electric car manufacturers into bringing innovative and energy-efficient vehicles to the market.

The latest to jump into the bandwagon is Biro, the new electric powered compact size car made in Italy.  Measuring 174 cms in length, a full body width of 103 cms and a height of 156 cms, it is possible to park four Biros in one regular parking space in Tokyo. The man behind the new and unconventional design is Matteo Maestri, the founder of Estrima, whose vision is to improve mobility in crowded cities.

Biro is equipped with a removable lithium-ion battery that can be recharged from any 100V outlet in your house. The haute design body with two seats side by side, comes in 99 dynamic colors.

Matteo Maestri will be in Japan when BIRO’s first Tokyo store opens on June 26 at Yaesu Street in Tokyo Station.  On exhibit are three new types, the BIRO Black Limited Edition, Biro Big and Biro Box.

For those who aren’t still convinced with ditching their gas-powered vehicles for electric, Biro is introducing rental plans (1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months) to help people get used to the ride before buying one.  And when you are ready to buy a unit, the rental fees will be deducted from the purchase price.
