A new case study, published in the BMJ Nutrition, Prevention & Health involving front line healthcare workers across six countries in Europe, revealed a connection between diet and covid.

The findings based on questionnaires submitted by 2,884 health-care workers of which 568 had tested positive for COVID-19, showed that those on plant-based diet were 73% less likely to develop severe symptoms from COVID than meat eaters. Pescatarians or those who only ate fish but not meat were 59% less likely to get seriously ill.

The study suggests dietary patterns affect how your body responds to infection from Covid-19. In a press release issued by the authors of the study, they said, “Our results suggest that a healthy diet rich in nutrient dense foods may be considered for protection against severe COVID-19.”
