Newly launched Nintendo Switch OLED in resale sites at a higher price

By on October 11, 2021

Nintendo Co.’s 7974 Switch Oled game console that was just launched on Friday is already being resold at much higher prices than the manufacturer’s recommended price of 37,980 yen (tax included.)

The Nintendo Switch OLED model, featuring a vibrant organic electro luminescent display, is being resold anywhere around 45,000 to 60,000 yen on the Mercari shopping app.

The Switch OLED model’s few updates –

  1. The screen is made of anti-glare glass compared to the older models which is made of plastic. It makes for  a nicer and more sophisticated feel as a result with the actual image quality stunning.
  2. The kickstand on the back is also no longer plastic and now made of metal which should give a good support at any angle.
  3. The new Switch has a full 7-inch OLED screen, an upgrade from the older model’s 6.2-inch display. The larger screen size is so much better although shouldn’t make much of a difference in handheld mode. The OLED screen’s rich blacks and hues actually give a needed punch to accentuate the larger screen size.

For those using an existing Switch, you can drop the OLED model into your current dock and it will work just fine. But the system comes with its own redesigned dock that you can set up. The rounded corner makes for a nicer feel.

Are you ready to make the Switch?
