Japan opens a glamping hotel in Okayama

By on July 28, 2021

Sometimes, all you need to relax are wide-open spaces. A 3-hour bullet train ride from Tokyo to Okayama offers just that.

Sure, a trip to a beach works for the family – but why not throw some fun and excitement into the mix as well?

There’s a new glamping resort inn set to open next month at the Setonaikai National Park in Okayama prefecture.  Glamping, a portmanteau of “glamorous” and “camping”, means a camping style that combines luxury amenities and traditional camping.

After a soft opening in April, the grand opening of  SETOUCHI GLAMPING has been scheduled on August 18, 2021. The glamping resort inn is located within the Washuzan Shimoden Hotel compound in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture.

It has spectacular and unobstructed views of Setonaikai, Japan’s largest inland sea (23,203 square km2) and the Great Seto Bridge or Seto Ohashi double deck bridges connecting Okayama and Kagawa prefectures across a series of five small islands in the Seto Inland Sea. Exciting activities offered range from sky watching and fishing near the beach to a tour of an uninhabited island and barbecue.

Access:  Shuttle bus service exclusively for glamping users available from JR Kojima Station
