Michelin 2021 Guide adds new stars to 22 Tokyo restaurants
2021 is looking good for 22 newly starred restaurants announced in Michelin’s 2021 Tokyo Guide.
The new addition of two three-star, two two-star, and 18 one-star Tokyo restaurants brings the total number of Michelin-starred restaurants in the city to 446. Currently, there are 12 three-star restaurants in Tokyo to which Sazenka, the first Chinese restaurant offering nouvel cuisine, has been newly added. L’Effervescence, a French restaurant joins Sazenka in the three-star category after earning two stars in 2015.

Not all Michelin-starred restaurants are pricey. In fact, Michelin also awards Bib Gourmand status to neighborhood restaurants that deliver a high quality dining experience at a reasonable price. It’s no surprise that Enrique Marruecos, a Moroccan restaurant tucked in the streets of cozy Setagaya ward made it to the Bib Gourmand Tokyo list.
