J’s Kitchen is a breath of fresh air just a few steps from the bustling Gaien Nishi Dori in Hiroo. Their motto is “eat healthy and become happy” which is exactly what their macrobiotic and organic menu supports! Kumiko Ueki, Owner and Chef, was lovely in taking the time to explain to our critics the meaning of macrobiotic and organic food, and to talk about her son, Jerome, whose artwork adorns the walls. As a mother, I was particularly impressed with the fact that they had sugar-free cookies, and baby food for sale!
The kids were very impressed that they could order a peanut butter sandwich in a restaurant, and I was impressed that it was on whole wheat bread served with veggies and organic orange juice. Although it may seem expensive, it is not more than you would pay at most other restaurants, and the ingredients are fresh and healthy. I was delighted that our critics gave such rave reviews, because it’s great to have a place where both children AND parents leave feeling good about what they ate!
