We all love getting presents during the holiday season, but in all of the excitement we sometimes forget to thank those who sent us the gifts. Our family loves to get together after Christmas and make “Thank You” cards for everyone.
It’s really easy and the whole family can get involved. All you need to get started is some paper, scissors, tape, an ink pad and stamps. The kids can help you by stamping the images, cutting out shapes, and sticking things down. (Help from the kids adds even more personality to your cards.) You can make them all the same or each one different.
Start with some heavy weight paper (card stock), fold it into the desired size, and layer some multi colored paper with double sided tape, to make the base of your card. Then, decide on the design you want for your card. You can use stamps, or one of the following:
Card design ideas:
Fingerprint art: Have your children make pictures using their fingerprints. (i.e. Two vertical thumbprints with a smaller fingerprint at the top makes a great snowman. Use markers to add the finishing touches - eyes, hat, carrot nose, etc...)
Stamps and Stickers: It’s a good idea to have a “Thank You stamp as well as one or two others with suitable images. If you don’t have the stamps you can always use stickers or ready made card toppers. There are a wide range of stickers as well as ready made card toppers available in Tokyo.
Handprints: From small children a handprint is always lovely
Paper Cutting: A paper snowflake your child cut out and glue onto a card.
Footprints: Turn your child’s upside down footprint into a snowman by adding a scarf and hat.
Origami: A paper crane or other Origami shape makes a great card design.
