When purveyor of American outdoor products, North Face, started the ‘North Face Kids Nature School’ in 2014, it had one purpose - to nurture a love of nature in children and help them explore the local environment.

“We teach children how to engage with nature and people, how to cherish things that are important for living,” says North Face.

In July, NORTH FACE takes kids on a trekking experience at Shioya, Maruyama, a mountainous area in Hokkaido. This is the first time for Kids Nature School to be held in Hokkaido.

Kids who want to join will gather at the “Sapporo Factory” in Sapporo city on July 29, to take a dedicated bus bound for Shioya Maruyama in Otaru City.

Shioya Maruyama is a low mountain with an altitude of 629 m and an amazing 360-degree panoramic view overlooking Shakotan, a large mountain resort area, Yoichi, a coastal town with nice beaches, and Japan sea.

■ THE NORTH FACE KIDS NATURE SCHOOL “KIDS TREKKING in Shioya Maruyama”
Date: July 29, 2017 (Saturday) ※ This is a day event.
Location: Marutaya Shioya (Hokkaido · Otaru City)
Who can join: Child (first to sixth elementary school graders)
Participation fee: 3,000 yen / child
Meeting place: in front of Sapporo Factory · Brick House
※ After the meeting in front of Sapporo Factory’s Brick House, all members will ride a bus to Shioya Maruyama Climbing Yamaguchi Exit.
Bus departure time: 8: 00 am (7: 30 am reception starts)
Ends: around 5:20 pm (tentative)
Headcount limit: 20 (Minimum number of 15 people)

8:30 Departure by bus
10: 20 Arrival at Shioya Maruyama Climb mountain. Trekking starts

15:15 Departure by bus
16: 45 Arrival at Sapporo Factory (tentative)
17:20 Kids dismissed

※ Time is subject to adjustment as a result of late arrivals or changes due to participants’ physical circumstances, weather, etc.
· Parents arrange drop-off and pick-up by public transportation.
· The event may be cancelled if it rains.
· An itinerary will be given to participants describing the schedule of the day.

Cancellation:

The following fees will be charged upon cancellation due to participant’s personal circumstances.
