Play, get dirty and have fun at Tsudayama
If you have one free day to get dirty and have fun, hop on the train and go to Tsudayama.
Tsudayama is about 20 minutes away from the center of Tokyo. You will find KAWASAKI KODOMO NO YUME PARK (Kawasaki Children’s Dream Park), sort of an adventure land right next to the station. It’s totally free, and you could go for the whole day and not get bored. All of the play equipment, apart from the underground exploration tunnels, is made out of recycled material, and almost all of it is natural.
There are all kinds of climbing structures built by hand. My sister and I had so much fun climbing up to the top of the tower and exploring. My sister’s favourite part was the water slide that ends in a little pond. We spent hours there –it was perfect for splashing, and so refreshing.
Park Play at Kawasaki Kodomo no Yume Park
Admission: FREE (9 am - 9 pm) Nearest Station: Tsudayama JR Nambu line
- Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday are “play park days” when you can do bonfires and borrow tools to build a play house.
- There is a cycling course around the park.
- There is a room called “Yururigori” where people with small children can play.
- There are no stores around the area so bring drinks and snacks for children.
By car: Tomei Expressway Tokyo IC→Tomei-Kawasaki IC→Route246(Atsugi Kaido)→Snova Mizonokuchi-R246(25min)
No parking around the park but you can find a Coin parking in front of the snowboard area
Another cool thing you could do is snowboarding. Snowboarding at Snova is all-year round. It’s right near the park, so you could do both in one day. You can rent all the gear, (including clothing), it’s not that expensive, and it’s really fun! Even though the boarding area is not that big, there is a half pipe and also some jumps. There are reasonably priced lessons for skiing and snowboarding, but I wouldn’t recommend skiing there, as the skiing area is too small except for beginners. Children’s lessons are discounted.
