In the 1930s, a typical Japanese person ate just 0.1 ounce of meat per day compared to 4.7 ounces today. Beef consumption in Tokyo alone shot up more than thirteen times over the years. Thanks to the inviting appeal of meat festivals in the city, the Japanese are much healthier now than before.

NIKU ON (Meat and Music) is coming up where the star of the show is - well, the power-packed meat - served by 20 Tokyo restaurateurs. In addition, jazz, pop, rock artists and musicians will be around to provide entertainment.

Food ticket: ¥700 each
