Divorce numbers in Japan decreasing

According to the 2011 statistics released by Japan’s Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry, there had been a sharp rise in the number of divorce cases between 2000 and 2005. The same study reports that in the following years between 2005 and 2011, the overall number has steadily decreased, most particularly, in the case of non-Japanese couples, and foreign wives of Japanese nationals.
