Get ready for summer, don’t neglect your hair!
As an expert, before advising people which hair product to use, it is far more important for them to know what a good diet is! Hairdressers see your hair quality merely from the outside but not what’s on the inside. Therefore knowing what foods you consume daily is important.
Eat healthy foods that promote the hair’s strength and luster
Essential fatty acids, especially omega-3 fatty acids, play a key role in the health of your skin, hair, and nails. Some of the omega-3-rich foods you should be eating every day are salmon, tuna, mackerel, or other fatty fish, flax seed oil, walnuts, almonds, and milk.
Vitamins B-6, B-12, and folic acid are also important to the hair. Vegetarians and vegans often do not get enough of these vitamins. A good source of vitamin B-6 includes bananas, potatoes (both white and sweet), and spinach.
Eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, especially citrus fruits and tomatoes, will supply you with the much needed folic acid. Whole grain and legumes like beans and lentils also contain folic acid. itamin B-12 is found in meat, poultry, fish, and dairy products. Protein is also critical to keeping the hair healthy. For a protein rich diet, eat at least one serving per day of lean meats like fish and/or chicken, eggs, and soy products. Trace minerals like magnesium and zinc also affect the health of the hair. It’s a good idea to have a daily dose of multivitamins.
Summer Hair Care Tips
Protect hair from the sun
For coloured hair, it’s important to use a shampoo, conditioner, and apply on UV protectant leave-in conditioner to prevent the sun’s rays from turning your hair into a brassy shade. Apply an oil or cream type of serum to wet or dry hair.
Get a trim before summer
Lengthy sun exposure causes dry, brittle hair. Get a nice, neat trim before the summer to remove split ends and minimize further damage from harsh UV rays.
Take a break from the hair dryer
In the summer when you’re out on a beach, air dry the hair the most natural way. You can also towel-dry using a suitable hairstyling product to keep the natural wave intact.
Tame down the frizz
The best way to control 90% of your frizzy hair is by Brazilian keratin straightening method. Find out which type suits your hair best.
Accessorize
If you expect to be out in the sun for a long period of time, accessories like a light, natural fiber hat, cotton bandana, will give you maximum protection while allowing proper ventilation and help blood circulation. If you have to pull the hair back, use a hair band instead of a regular elastic band.
"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
Take care of your hair during the summer and you won’t have to spend the fall and winter working to repair your hair.
